Tuesday's Tails: Adopt This Movie Star!

Last week I wrote about visiting the Great Iowa Pet Expo, and one of the organizations I spoke with was AHeinz57.  This organization not only works to transport adoptable animals across the Midwest, but they also pull dogs from high-kill shelters and work hard to find them forever homes.

Today's adoptable pet has been in the care of AHeinz57 since January, and I can't believe she's still there!  Introducing...Betty Grable!  (Photos from here)

This gorgeous gal is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix and is just under a year old. Betty Grable is currently in a loving foster home and having lots of fun, but what she would really love is a permanent home to call her own.  Her brothers and sisters have all found their forevers, but she remains up for adoption. :(

From the rescue's website:  "Betty Grable is a sweet and active little girl.  She loves to run and play with her foster brothers and sisters.  She was born with a skin condition called ichthyosis.  Her skin regenerates faster than other dogs but is not contagious.  In fact, she was the only one in her litter with the condition.  Her foster family gives her oatmeal shampoo baths and rubs coconut oil in which keeps her looking good and smelling great!  Betty will do best in a home with a fenced yard and a furry brother or sister to play with her."

Doesn't she look sweet?!  I just can't believe this cutie is still available.  Many people may be worried about adopting a pup with a skin condition, but ichthyosis, characterized by scaly or hard skin, is nothing life-threatening or costly.  It may be "unattractive" and, if left untreated, can be uncomfortable for the dog, but ichthyosis is easily soothed by frequent bathing and topical ointments.
If you are interested in adopting Betty Grable, or know someone who might be, please share her photo and contact AHeinz57 for more information.  Don't pass this movie star by - help her find her forever home today!

  3. It is surprising that Betty is still up for adoption. Such a cute, little dog usually gets adopted very quickly.
